Pie Crust

This is a ridiculously easy recipe that you can use for anything that requiring a crust. All you need is a food processor.

This post includes Amazon affiliate links. There is no obligation to buy. I only recommend products that I own, use or would buy myself unless otherwise specified.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 C flour
  • 1/2 C butter refrigerated
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • cold water

Tips

Add part of the flour into the food processor first. This keeps the butter from sticking in the crevices.

Cutting up the butter into 10 to 15 pieces makes the processing faster.

You can add a pinch of sugar if you want.

A ball shape should stay in the fridge for about 30 minutes for the perfect consistency. If you flatten the ball you can reduce the time. Longer will require a little work to get malleable.

When you go to roll the crust, use the plastic wrap between the roller and dough to prevent sticking.

Move and flip the dough and flour surfaces while rolling out to prevent sticking.

Directions

Set up your food processor.

Add part of the flour. Then cut up the butter and drop into the processor.

Dump in the remaining flour and salt.

Process and pulse the mix until you don’t know there’s any butter. It combines into a meal or thicker powder.

Transfer to a bowl.

Add the cold water a tablespoon at a time and work the dough with a fork. Only add enough water so that the dough can be formed into a ball. You don’t want it to be wet or sticky.

Wrap the ball into a piece of plastic wrap and store in the fridge.

Pull the dough out when ready to roll.

Flour your work surface and roller and the dough surface if it becomes sticky.

Roll out to the desired shape.

Then bake as your recipe calls for.
